Sunday 5 July 2026 – Summer walk in the Colne Valley with optional pub lunch

A walk of about 4.5 miles around the Colne Valley organised by Chris Newman.

12:00 for 12:30 – Lunch at The Round Bush, Aldenham

Meet at The Round Bush, Roundbush Lane, Aldenham, Watford, WD25 8BG (01923 729567) to eat at about 12:30. They haven’t asked us to order in advance, so just turn up at the appropriate time. The Sunday menu is available online.

2:00 Walk around the Colne Valley

Meet in front of The Round Bush. The walk will be about 4.5 miles, going through Blackbirds Farm, across the River Colne at Munden Ford and beyond Munden House, down the valley to the footbridge below Wall Hall Pumping Station and back past Aldenham Church.

Directions and parking

The Round Bush is on a short lane, Round Bush Lane, running south from the B462 Radlett Road that runs from the A41 east of Watford towards Radlett; if coming from St Albans approach it by turning onto Park Road at the first roundabout in Radlett on Watling Street, A5183. There is a triangle of lanes around The Round Bush, and street parking in these lanes should be available for those not eating at The Round Bush, or if its modest car park is full.
